Honda has a brand new Civic hatch for the European market, which we hope for their sake will be much better received than its US-market sedan counterpart. The other mainstay of 2012 sales figures for the global market should be the new generation of CR-V.
We’ve covered the vehicle in detail ever since its concept days, and now we have the first official images of the production version, which were uploaded to the automaker’s Japanese website. With the exception of a sharper set of wheels and some more production-oriented bumpers, the CR-V is virtually identical to its concept cousin.
You can expect the JDM version of the CR-V to debut at the 2012 Tokyo Motor Show, by which time it should also be ready for the US market. The bad news is that European fans will likely have to wait about a year more.
Honda hasn’t revealed much in the way of technical details of a production start. However, we know that in the US it will come with both a 2.4-liter, much like the current generation, but also a more powerful new 2.5-liter.
In Europe, you can be sure the more economical version of Honda’s 2.2-liter diesel that debuted with the Civic to be available.
We hear that Honda is working on a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine, which they should introduce to the CR-V as well, giving it the sort of premium appeal that a 150 diesel can’t.
