Dear readers, we give you the Ferrari SA APERTA, the Prancing Horse’s way of celebrating Pininfarina’s 80th birthday. The topless incarnation of the 599 is a special edition, so only 80 units will be built. The vehicle will make its official debut at the upcoming Paris Auto Show. The vehicle uses a traditional soft top solution with complex aerodynamic solutions to offer an excellent compromise between form and function (or should we say form and friction?). Other special features include a low-slung windscreen and two special roll-bars behind the seats. Ferrari claims that the vehicle chassis delivers the same level of rigidity as the standard 599’s one without adding extra weight like other convertibles do. At the front of the SA APERTA, under the long bonnet, we find a V12 unit that deliver 670 hp, making the vehicle a true performer. Ferrari has also worked on the interior of the vehicle, where it has used fresh materials, trimmings and colors. The Italian automaker will allow customers to create their own version of the interior. As for the pricing, you don’t have to worry, all the 80 examples of the car have already been sold. “Ferrari chose to build 80 SA APERTAs in celebration of Pininfarina's 80th anniversary. The SA nomenclature also pays homage to both Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina whose company and work have been linked to the most successful road-going cars ever built at Maranello,” stated the press release. Our say: Expect a convertible rain at Ferrari's Paris display. autoevolution will be attending the 2010 Paris Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
