As we've said in other articles, Ferrari is the supercar producer that is the most determined to surrender to the eco pathway and focus on cutting the average CO2 emissions of its range.
The Prancing Horse has already introduced a prototype of the Hybrid 599 at this year’s Geneva Auto Show and various media reports indicate that the first hybrid vehicle wearing the Ferrari badge will come our way at next year’s edition of the event in the form of the replacement for the 612 Scaglietti model.
And Ferrari’s tree-hugging intentions are about to be revealed sooner than we thought. The supercar maker will introduce a green version of the California at the upcoming Paris Auto Show, as omniauto.it reports. No, we are not referring to the coupe-cabriolet's color here.
The company won’t introduce a hybrid version of the California, sticking to the aforementioned plan for this pathway. It won’t go to the other end of the efficiency-increasing scale either - it won’t come with a start-stop system for the vehicle.
Instead, Ferrari will offer innovative solutions that reduce the internal engine friction, lower the vehicle’s drag and decrease its weight. In addition to that, the car’s powerplant will feature a cylinder deactivation system.
Our say: Cylinder deactivation system... will we get a (temporarily) four-cylinder Ferrari?
autoevolution will be attending the 2010 Paris Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
