The project, which was recently held at the famous Silverstone circuit, saw 50 UK youngsters being taken around the track in a fleet of Ferrari Californias, handled by professional drivers and BRDC rising stars. The big-hearted driver line-up also included Fifth Gear presenter Jason Plato and Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, who is a huge Ferrari enthusiast.
The event’s attenders list also included Ferrari Driver Marc Gene, who spent some time talking to the children about their favorite Ferrari models.
The participating children were nominated by two charities, Starlight, which brightens the lives of seriously and terminal ill children by granting their wishes and the automotive industry charity, BEN.
Each child enjoyed a 15-minute passenger ride, while their families were given unique access to the BRDC Clubhouse, a motorsport sanctuary. The event also offered the children a chance to race on a giant Hot Wheels Track and create art on the first ever digital graffiti wall. In addition to that, each of the participants received a USB stick with on-board footage from their personal ride and a gift pack from the Ferrari Store.
“Aged from six to 16, the children had journeyed from all parts of the UK to attend the Ferrari California experience and each had a different story to tell. Some are bravely battling illness; others have devoted themselves to caring for family members. All were united in enjoying an incredible day that left a lasting impression on all who attended,” stated the press release.
