Its 2010 and here on planet Earth, the global dowturn has been delivering multiple blows to the automotive industry, with many sectors having suffered severe financial damage. Fortunately, an increasing number of lights is starting to be sent the darkness away, but we’re still far away from entering the “fast-forward” development zone.

However, there have been certain automotive segments that have managed to find shelter from this financial hurricane. The bravest of these soldiers that have fought the crisis, making one effort after another in order to demonstrate that the world needs such vehicles, are the supercars.

And one of the hottest supercars of the moment is the Ferrari 458 Italia. In case you were wondering we’re not referring to the actual temperature of the car, a subject that was covered here.

Talking about the Ferrari 458 Italia here in the office we started asking ourselves what little holiday present the owner of such a beast could make to the car (and to himself, of course).

It seems that the latest (light) aftermaket goodie for the Italian creation comes in the form of an exhaust system that is provided by Slovenian exhaust specialist Akrapovic.

Let’s see what the new exhaust can do for the vehicle’s 4.5 liter V8, which produces 570 hp at 9,000 rpm and a peak torque of 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) at 6,000 when it leaves the factory. Once fitted, the system brings an output premium of 11 hp (at 6,370 rpm) and 26 Nm/19 lb-ft (at 2,400 rpm). In addition to that, the exhaust is 14 kg (31 lbs) lighter than the stock one.
