The Mitsubihsi Lancer Evo X is an all-wheel-drive, turbocharged beast. Don’t be fooled by the vehicle’s sedan form, as it can easily make many sports car cry. The vehicle’s greates asset is its all-wheel-drive system, which is one intelligent piece of engineering, managing to deal with corners effortlessly.
Power comes from a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit that delivers 295 hp at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 270 lb-ft (366 Nm) at 3,500 rpm.
But what if you want a little extra muscle? We’re not here to discuss about tricked-out Evos that reach stratospheric output levels, we’re just talking about a streetable upgrade that will make you Evo just a little bit naughtier.
Apparently, Akrapovic has a prety good asnwer to this question. The Slovakian car and bike exhaust specialist has targeted the Evo X and is offering a range of products that will increase performance and offer a meaner sound for the performance icon.
The entry-level modification kit is a Slip-On system that includes two titanium mufflers. This offers a 11 hp & 9 Nm power and torque boost, while being 5 kg lighter than the stock system.
At the other end of the performace scale, we find the Evolution system with the optional down pipe, which includes a Totanium down pipe, a Titanium front link pipe, a Titanium rear link pipe with a resonator and two titanium mufflers. Installing the system (without a catalytic converter) will boost power and torrque by 31 hp and 26 Nm and will allow the car to tip the scales 16 kg lower that standard.
