Mitsubishi introduced the fifth generation of its mid-size pickup in 2015, continuing the story of one of its most appreciated products ever, and made it available with a few choices of cabins, including an extended Club Cab version.

The Legacy of this vehicle was linked to numerous wins in the grueling Dakar Rally, and even though it couldn't survive on the North American market (when it was also sold as Dodge Raider), it was appreciated in Europe. In Asian countries, the automaker sold it under the Triton nameplate. The pickup was available in Single Cab, Club Cab, and Double Cab versions. Mitsubishi produced the Club Cab as an alternative for those who didn't need rear seats for long distances but had to carry up to one ton of equipment.

The car's front fascia looked aggressive, with sharp-looking headlights swept back on the sides. They flanked the chromed grille with oblique slats and a wider middle section where the three-diamond badge took center stage. But the most significant difference compared to its siblings was on the sides, where the automaker installed two doors for the front occupants and a pair of rear-hinged ones for those seated in the back. Behind the cabin, Mitsubishi installed the bed, which was longer than the one fitted on the four-door version.

Inside, the car couldn't hide its utilitarian designation. Still, Mitsubishi tried to offer comfort amenities, such as a sat-nav infotainment system, for the upper trim levels. The front seats were slightly bolstered, and the base and middle grades featured cloth upholstery. There was enough room on the rear bench seat for up to three occupants, although legroom was limited.

Depending on the market, the L200 came fitted with a 2.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine or a turbo-diesel. The latter was available in different power outputs. But the most significant part of the drivetrain was the Super-Select 4x4 system that allowed the vehicle to be driven in rear-wheel drive, all-wheel-drive with an open center differential, and 4x4 lock with low-range gear.
