Facelifted Series II Holden Captiva Unveiled

The launch of the facelifted version of the Captiva 5 and Captiva 7 will give Holden a stronger image and more widespread appeal for its SUV offering. The company also promises there will be more power available across the range, coupled with fuel efficiency gains.

“The introduction of three powerful new generation engines, each providing a performance boost and fuel efficiency benefits will make compact and medium SUV buyers sit up and take notice. That’s on top of the fact that Captiva 5 and 7 continue to hit all the right notes in terms of good looks, high-ride comfort, safety features and flexibility,” Holden Chairman and Managing Director, Mike Devereux, said.

The Captiva 7 improved range offers three new powertrain options, including a 2.4-liter four-cylinder petrol, a 2.2-liter tubodiesel and the Commodore-sourced, Australian-built 3.0-liter Spark Ignition Direct Injection (SIDI) V6.

Meanwhile, customers looking to buy a Captiva 5 will have a choice of two diesel engines to choose between and will enjoy the quieter cabins and improved ride and handling quality.

The Series II makeover includes the addition of features with Bluetooth connectivity and wireless music streaming on all seven-seat models among the key changes. The list of comprehensive safety devices includes six airbags as standard on all models, an electric park brake and Hill Start Assist technology to prevent “roll-away” on inclines.

Subtle aesthetic improvements come in the form of “striking new design treatments” that includes the new twin portal grill flanked by prominent fog lamps. The design of the headlights has also been changed to an elongated prism shape, while the weep back to wheel arches now accommodate three wheel sizes from 17 inches to 19 inches .

“They’re more well-specified than ever and our pricing structure means they remain excellent value for money with each recommended retail price $2000 (AUD) lower than the previous model,” Devereux added.
