One of my favorite toys has always been and will forever remain: LEGO. Well, another pastime for me is the RV and motorhome industry, so you can understand my excitement when I ran across this here Earthroamer LEGO project.
For the time being, the LEGO set you see before you can't be found in some Walmart near you. That's because the "Earthroamer," as it's been dubbed, isn't yet a real project, yet. But with a tad of support from us brick-heads, we can help KingCalculatingFace100 (KCF100) to get this toy in the hands of LEGO shot-callers and, hopefully, under our trees by this year's Christmas.

Now, if you're familiar with LEGO Ideas, then you have a very clear understanding of what we're looking at. If you don't, no biggie; a refresher course is commencing. What makes this side of the timeless toy brand so neat is the fact that people like you and me submit their toy set ideas.

First, you'll need to use special software that allows you to create a concept with real and existing pieces. Once you're happy with it, post your design on the Ideas website and hope for the best. If you somehow reach 10,000 supporters, your idea will then be up for debate by LEGO decision-makers. Only then will it hit store shelves.

All that brings us to this Earthroamer, which, sadly, will probably never make it to market. Why? Well, if the real Earthroamer or LEGO would ever create such a project, they'd do it through a collaboration and never through a third party that probably doesn't work at either of the two companies. There's no need to point out any obvious branding or copyright issues either. But that doesn't mean that KCF100's idea isn't worth noting; it's actually pretty cool and even does things.

According to the KCF100's Lego Ideas page, this project includes over 2,000 pieces, and with those bits, the designer was able to bring to life a camper that doesn't just look like an Earthroamer but even behaves like one. KCF even has a scene where the habitat is unloaded from the chassis and just hanging out under some imaginary tree. Inside and outside, LEGO people can carry out a diverse range of activities; we'll get to all that shortly.

First, let's start off with the fact that this is a proverbial overland machine, and as such, an off-road suspension system has been integrated into the design. Be sure to take a look at the image gallery to see it in action. As you do, there's a scene where we can even see this toy's winch in action. Pretty neat if you ask me. AT tires are also part of the deal.

After trudging through diverse terrains in the minds of those playing with this Earthroamer, you'll finally arrive at some campsite hidden in the corner of your room and start exploring the rest of this pint-sized RV. It's here that you can also unload the shell and put it on its stabilizers; take the truck and play around with it elsewhere in your home or backyard. Speaking of playing around in the background, there's even a LEGO e-bike rack mounted to the rear of this unit, ready with a mini two-wheeler, too.

Now, while the truck is off doing god knows what, the miniature inhabitants of this refuge will be able to mess around in the unit. Interestingly enough, KCF100 has gone to great lengths to really prepare this unit in the right fashion. There's a cooktop, microwave oven, dinette, and even an elevated cab-over bed, just like in a real Earthroamer. Apparently, there's even a bathroom and toilet in this thing, but I didn't spot those in the images.

As for a few other activities you can carry out in the land of LEGO RVing, you'll be able to climb up on top of your Earthroamer, tend to those solar panels, maybe lay down for a bake in the sunshine, or set up an outdoor picnic area for your minions. A pretty neat toy, and one that you and your child could enjoy while actually camping or motorhoming across the US.

Last, but not least, allow me to remind everyone that this puppy is currently unavailable on store shelves, but that doesn't mean we can't show our support for this project, and the higher-ups at LEGO understand that there might be a market for such a toy, and ta-da. By Christmas, we may be able to get our hands on an Earthroamer, even though it's in miniature form.

From here, I leave it to you. What do you like and dislike about this creation? Would you change anything? If so, what? Oh, and always remember, if you're feeling inspired, you, too, can create your very own LEGO Ideas project. Happy exploring out there.
