Launched as a Chinese market concept car at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show, the new Ford Escort may seek its buyers in Europe too.
The new Escort made a sensation when launched last week in China, and although the mid-size sedan was designed j ust for that market, we find out that it may be possible to see it in Europe too.
"There's certainly been internal discussions about it [bringing it to Europe]. I for one would love to see it over here [in Europe]. There is definitely a place in the market for a lower-cost car to sit under the Focus.” said a senior Ford insider in an interview with Auto Express.
Ford believes that the car could work well for Europe, but not for England unfortunately, due to the country’s overall rejection of three-box saloons.
Another reason as to why the car is suitable in Europe was given by Ford’s Chairman, who said that “People there do not drive the same car as their boss, and many bosses drive Focuses. So there is an opportunity to sell another car underneath it.”
