Caterham’s new entry-level sportscar will reportedly hit the market in September with a price tag of £15,000. Developed as a replacement for the Classic Seven, the new lightweight vehicle will become the most affordable Caterham-badged car.
Part of company’s 40th anniversary, the new vehicle promises to be Caterham’s most fuel-efficient sportscar thanks to a “super-compact, flexible and EU6-compliant engine”. The British also claim that it will a no-nonsense sportscar built for those who just want to enjoy the pleasure of driving without the present-day gizmos.
"This will be a car built for the driver who wants to drive, but also for one who doesn't need extreme power. Our lowest price car now is the Classic, and we struggle to source the Rover engines for it. We've built only a couple of those in the past year. Up until now that has been our low-cost car but it's going now,” Caterham Cars CEO, Graham Macdonald, told Autocar.
