Being the undisputed trailblazer for midsize naked performers, the Hornet is a trendsetter for streetfighter looks and riding fun. It was introduced in 1998 and since then it has been a benchmark in sport-oriented standard or "naked" bikes, providing the rider an upright riding position.

It is powered by a 599 cc (36.6 cu in) liquid-cooled inline-four cylinder DOHC engine, originally a detuned version of the one in the Honda CBR600 sport bike, which produces a maximum power output of 102 hp and maximum torque of 63.5 Nm.

The bike has a six-speed transmission, inverted telescopic fork and a monoshock damper in the rear with 7-step adjustable preload and 128 mm travel. Its brakes are hydraulic dual-disc, twin piston in the front and single-disc, single-piston caliper in the rear. Wheels are hollow-section 5-spoke cast aluminum, 17 inches (430 mm) in diameter. The exhaust system is positioned under the engine for better weight distribution and an unique exhaust note.

The instrument panel is derived directly from the CBR1000RR Fireblade. the fully electronic unit features a big, racy looking centrally positioned analogue rev counter and a large digital LCD speedometer, dual trip gauges, multi-segment fuel gauge and a clock.

The new dual-bulb headlight features low beam and high beam positioned one over the other behind a polycarbonate lens. The LED taillight is integrated into the tail and the turn signals feature smoked lenses and amber bulbs. The ultra-slim seat seems to be hovering over the fat rear tire.

From nose to tail, every line and every component is totally new and totally geared to delivering an electrifying jolt of riding excitement.
