Riding a bike to and fro may be fun and all, but there are also times when riders would most definitely like to be somewhere else. Like, say, when lifting a 240 kg (that's 529 pounds) Ducati Multistrada V4 S off a side stand.
In essence, the operation of lifting a bike off a side stand is not that complicated, but it could pose some problems to certain riders, especially the ones not built to lift heavy weights. That's why a while ago Italian bike maker Ducati rolled out something called Easy Lift.

In simple words, Easy Lift is a function of Ducati bikes that fully opens the valves of the suspension system's hydraulics. It does this automatically when the ignition is turned on, and its effects last for three minutes after the engine roars to life. This makes both the bike's rear and front suspension system softer, and makes the process of lifting the bike off its stand easier.

The tech also adds to the Minimum Preload feature of the bike. By resetting the shock absorber preload, it allows riders to put their feet on the ground much easier when traveling at low speed. That's a development that comes particularly handy when there are two people on the bike.

The tech has already been rolled out by the Italians for the Multistrada V4 Rally, and this week we got word of the V4 S version of the bike family getting it too.

The even greater news is that the Easy Lift is offered free of charge by the bike maker. That's because people who will buy a Multistrada V4 S in the future will get the system included as standard, while those who already own the bikes will receive it free of charge.

In addition to that, the V4 S also adds the possibility for the rider to change the height of the seat, leading to a more comfortable position, tailored to the rider's build. Also helping with that are different-height saddles and a lowering set, all of them offered as extras for the bike.

No one will be left out, as Ducati will reach out to its customers by means of the MyDucati app or via email to let them know about Easy Lift. A trip to the local dealer will be required for the bikes to be updated with the new system.

For all intents and purposes, now that the Easy Lift was made available for the second Multistrada V4 bike the range is becoming a true tech test bed for the Italian bike maker. When the most recent generation was introduced it became the first production bike in the world to come with front and rear radar, and a phone mirroring function which it too was too delivered free to people who already owned the model.

The Multistrada V4 range presently comprises five main models, namely the V4, V4 S, V4 S Sport, the V4 Pikes Peak, and the V4 Rally.
