Have you ever wondered how our beloved muscle monsters look to a non-car person? They probably appear big, loud and... pretty much all the same. Even so, the rendering we have here isn't an attempt to portray what your non-caring neighbor thinks of your bewildering Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. Instead, we're dealing with a visual exercise that can be labeled as a result of a current trend.
I'm referring to the face swap, a digital trend that seems to grow stronger every year. From elaborate 3D renderings that could even convince gearheads they're the real deal to easy cut-paste-brush jobs that anybody can deliver, face swaps are all over the world wide web.
However, the fascia surgery we have here is special, since it doesn't attempt to turn one car into another, bringing a crossbreed monster instead.
As such, this Hellcat Redeye has borrowed multiple features from the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 - since the SS has gone through the disappointing 2019 facelift, which was adressed by the emergency 2020 refresh that we currently find in showrooms, going for the ZL1 was the obvious route here.
When it comes to the future of these iconic American badges, you shouldn't believe the reports talking about the demise of the Chevy muscle car. You see, there are newer reports, which still date back to last summer, that mention the seventh-generation Camaro has been delayed rather than axed. Nevertheless, a clear deadline for the arrival of the next-gen model hasn't been mentioned.
Then again, the situation of the Dodge Challenger and Charger, for that matter, is not that different. The Mopar people are talking about their future muscle, albeit without providing too many details - the current generation of the coupe and sedan is expected to soldier on until 2023.
As for the Mustang, the one that was never absent, a Ford job listing has shown that the next-gen S650 model is set to land in 2022, coming as a 2023 model.
