When you’re an NBA player, you have more options to choose from when it comes to treating your dad to a Father’s Day gift. For example, Dejounte Murray didn’t buy him a set of tools, cologne, or a smartwatch, but treated him to a new SUV.
Dejounte Murray shared a short video on his social media where he the present to his dad: a brand-new Chevrolet Tahoe, which was a gift for both his birthday and Father’s Day.
The one-minute video shows the San Antonio Spurs guard outside his family home with the rest of his relatives, before presenting the new, white SUV to his dad, who was overcome with emotion as he realized it was for him. As all the members of the family had their phones up to film the reaction, Dejounte’s dad hugged him and seemed incredibly humbled at his son’s gesture.
In the caption, Dejounte admitted there were times when they didn’t exactly see eye to eye, but he wanted to do something nice for his dad: “We had our differences for almost 7-8 years, and I just want a relationship with my dad before it’s too late and not have one of us living with regrets.”
Murray continued and wrote that he loves his dad and respects him "for taking ownership on why you wasn’t there as much as I wanted you to be as a kid." At the end of the caption, he added: “I hope you love the truck, King.”
Unfortunately, the video didn’t show his dad hopping in his new Chevrolet Tahoe, but he stood quite far away from the SUV, still shocked at his son’s gesture.
This isn’t the first time Dejounte Murray did this for a family member. A couple of months ago, the NBA player decided to reward his sister for her good grades with a brand-new, 2022 Honda Accord, and she couldn’t have been more thrilled.
