Like the lovely Dakota, tiny homes designed and built in Australia perfectly embody the Aussie spirit – friendly, sunny, and thirsty for adventure. One of the most remarkable models in the Alphaline Tiny Homes portfolio, this 27.5-footer blends high-capacity accommodation with a wonderful design that invites the outdoors in.
The Dakota 8400 could simply be described as sunshine on wheels. It incorporates so much glass that it could almost be mistaken for one of those Northern European transparent tiny homes made entirely of glass. Yet, this Aussie model doesn't throw away privacy or the cozy feeling of an intimate abode. It stays open to the surroundings while providing just the right amount of protection and seclusion.

The 8.4-meter (27.5 feet) length is the second-largest available at Alphaline Tiny Homes. Combined with a 4.3-meter (14.1 feet) height, it makes room for a generous and highly flexible layout. Tiny homes that can comfortably accommodate up to six people are rare. Dakota does it by combining a main-floor bedroom and a loft room with a big living room that can fit a convertible sofa.

Two separate entry doors support the idea of enhanced privacy even in such a luminous house. Apart from their functionality, they also provide great views for those inside and bring in more natural light. Dakota is bathed in light all around, which is why it looks so welcoming and spacious. One of the doors leads to the living room, while the other provides separate access to the main-floor bedroom – a feature that can be particularly useful if the house is used as a vacation rental for multiple guests.

The lounge is surrounded by big windows, which is why it feels almost like an indoor/outdoor space. It's perfect for those who want to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible in any season or weather conditions. This is one of the greatest advantages of homes on wheels, allowing owners to feel connected to their natural surroundings for most of the time.

A large convertible sofa would take up most of the living room space. However, future owners who don't need additional accommodation can opt for a smaller couch and a cozier décor. They can also choose to integrate more storage if that's a priority.

The living room and the kitchen are part of an open-plan layout with no rigid separation. This makes the kitchen more compact compared to most tiny-house configurations. Still, let's not forget that the Dakota tiny focuses primarily on comfortable sleeping areas, while everything else takes a back seat.

To make up for the limited kitchen space, the countertop comes with a foldable extension that can turn into a practical breakfast bar without taking up additional space. On the opposite side, a massive staircase with wide steps provides ample storage, the kind you'd find in larger kitchens. This staircase is also custom-designed to fit a full-size fridge and a washer/dryer combo unit.

Multiple overhead cabinets cover the entire wall length above the countertop for additional storage. Still, all of these different-sized cabinets don't make the Dakota's kitchen seem too crowded. Carefully integrated windows on both sides keep the area luminous and airy, complementing the white walls.

The bathroom is placed between the kitchen and the main bedroom, doubling as a separating element. Once again, making the best use of its length and open-plan configuration, the Dakota tiny reveals a surprising bathroom, both stylish and luxurious in terms of equipment.

A full-size shower cabin with glass doors and a spacious vanity add a luxurious touch. The minimalistic decor makes it look more elegant, and it comes with the rare advantage of a large window (most tiny home bathrooms have the smallest windows).

The main bedroom is a simple sanctuary for rest and relaxation. It keeps things simple, with a large, comfortable bed and windows on one side. The placement and the separating wall keep all the regular noise away. At the same time, the bedroom isn't entirely isolated thanks to the separate door, which also creates a much-needed indoor-outdoor flow.

The loft bedroom sits above the one on the main floor, also offering ample space. A minimalistic handrail adds to the comfort of the staircase, a much more popular option than basic ladders. With spacious homes like the Dakota, this option works well because there's still sufficient room left for the kitchen and living area.

The flexible accommodation means that future owners can choose whether they want to use both bedrooms and turn the living room into an extra guest room or use just one of them as a bedroom and leave the others for various roles, such as a home office or a playroom. Fitted with all the modern amenities required for daily comfort, the Dakota provides a uniquely strong connection to the outdoors.

With an optional exterior deck, this spacious home on wheels becomes the perfect sanctuary in the middle of nature year-round. Premium features such as a full-height shower, 600-mm-deep (23.6 inches) kitchen countertops, plus wall and ceiling insulation are included as standards. In addition to that, future owners can fully customize the Dakota model to fit their needs to perfection.
