For the past couple of weeks or so, fans of post-apocalyptic stories have been glued to their Netflix screens watching the latest iteration of the Snowpiercer story. After all, what else is there to do in a time when most of us are still locked in our homes?
Snowpiercer is a mammoth train, running in the not-so-distant and frozen future on tracks that span around the globe, thanks to an invention called the perpetual-motion engine. It’s big, it’s all-metal, and not even colossal avalanches are a match for it.
And it kind of looks like the four-wheeled monster of a panel truck we have here. Once a 1951 Ford cab-over-engine machine, it now looks more like a locomotive, armored to its teeth and with spiked wheels.
The build’s official name is Big Bandit, and it was one of the main attractions on the floor of the SEMA show in 2018. It was so impressive that it won the International Ratical Rod Build-off World Champion title.
Describing how it was made and what it is supposed to represent would be useless, because the images in the gallery above speak for themselves.
We will tell you that this thing here is not powered by a perpetual motion engine, though, but an even more extreme powerplant: a Dodge 440ci (7.2-liter) V8, linked to a 3-speed automatic transmission. There is no information on how many miles the build traveled since completion, but a true Snowpiercer cares little about mileage.
The custom truck also features a custom suspension, leather on the inside, interior LEDs, and of course, smartphone connectivity.
We came across this machine once again because it is now for sale, and we truly hope someone gets their hands on it and we get to see it on a road somewhere or at an auto show closer to home. The asking price is $98,500.
