In our never-ending chase of interesting cars to write about, we stumbled upon this BMW M4 Convertible. And if you paid attention to the title and the opening image, then you know what it is all about.
The 2024 model had only 516 miles (830 km) on the odometer when it almost met its maker. But fortunately, the damages seem to be mostly cosmetic at first glance, and we think it can most definitely be saved.
As to how exactly it was crashed, your guess is as good as ours. We are tempted to say the owner couldn't handle all that power and the tail-happy nature of this hot open-top Bimmer, but the truth is that we don't know. What we can tell you is that it recently ended up on Copart looking for a new home.
The future owner of this M4 will have to sort out those damages, which include the front bumper, left front quarter panel, and hood. The right rear fender and the door on the same side also have to be replaced, and we can see some scratches on the rear bumper, too.
There are some mechanical issues with this car as well, and if you look at the left front wheel, you will see it is all misaligned. Thus, the suspension will have to be taken care of, at least on that corner, and we'd recommend a full inspection before any work is done. One of the rear airbags was deployed during the crash, so that is another thing that will have to be mended.
On the plus side, chances are the structure was not affected. The engine looks brand new and untouched, so it likely still fires up. In the Competition xDrive Convertible version of the M4, which is the only variant of the open-top model marketed in the United States, it produces 503 hp (510 ps/375 kW), allowing it to sprint to sixty mph (97 kph) in 3.6 seconds.
The car is located in Austin, Texas, and will hit the auction block part of an upcoming event at a yet-undisclosed date. In the ad that you can access here, the vendor states that the value of such a vehicle is just under $100,000, albeit one in top-notch condition that only requires gas in the tank and someone who's not too cocky holding the steering wheel.
A brand-new M4 Competition xDrive Convertible will set you back a minimum of $93,300. The price excludes the destination charge and dealer fees. So, if crashed Bimmers were your thing, how much would you pay for this yellow copy? And would you save it, or do you think it would make you more money if you sold it for parts?
