The eighth generation of the Corvette is still young enough not to have a wealth of accomplishments to its name. Born in the closing months of 2019, the model just started being delivered earlier this year, so customers are just getting around to playing with it in ways they can be proud of.
Texas-based tuning garage Hennessey is no stranger to taking already monstrous machines and turning them into epic beasts. So as soon as the new Vette came to be, it became an instant target for the group.

The garage is already working on its own variant of the car, and the last time we heard anything about it was back when it got the twin-turbo back in March.

This story, and the video below the text, are about what a non twin-turbo Corvette is capable of doing in the right hands: and that is becoming the first car of its generation to smash through the 200 mph barrier (322 kph).

The feat was achieved on May 8, but Hennessey just published the video of the run on Monday (May 18). The clips shows a white Corvette C8 being raced down the Continental Tires Proving Grounds in Uvalde, Texas by driver John Heinricy to what is, by all accounts, a record speed.

A VBox GPS confirmed the car managed to reach a top speed of 205.1 mph (330.07 kph), making it the world’s fastest C8 Corvette to date. There seems to be no official homologation of the record, and the Vette that achieved this was not exactly stock, being fitted with Nitrous & Hennessey stainless steel exhaust upgrades and developing a claimed 650 hp.

You can watch the Hennessey run on the said track in the three minutes video attached below. Be warned, the Vette moves so fast there’s a good chance you’ll miss it if you blink.
