This used to be an absolutely gorgeous, red-painted Chevrolet Corvette C06 ZR1. Now, it is just a pile of metal with the wiring coming out it like a bag of worms. Literally. The car is getting dismantled and sold part by part on eBay. When will it get there? It is just a matter of time.
The salvage car market is one crazy place. Cars terribly expensive, some of them brand-new, with only a few hundreds of miles on the odometer, end up there, and some are so rumpled that you can barely tell what it actually was.

This Corvette C06 ZR1 used to be a beauty in red, but a crash sent it straight to the salvage car market. It is not repairable, but the company that got it is going to sell everything that is left intact following the crash. And there is still a lot to save, apparently,, even though the front end is terribly messed up.

The ZR1 is the performance version of the Z06. Codenamed the Blue Devil while in development, a name inspired by the former CEO and chairman of General Motos, Rick Wagoner's alma mater, Duke University, the car was powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V8 engine, capable of generating 638 horsepower (647 PS) and 604 lb-ft (819 Nm) of torque. Corvette claimed back then that the car was able to hit 205 mph (330 kph).

To keep the weight under control, Chevrolet used carbon fiber for the roof, fenders, front splitter, and rocker holdings. The team chose to paint the hood and the fenders, but the roof and splitter are covered in a clear coat that allows the display of the original black shade.

The Z06 came with the largest wheels ever placed on a production Corvette: 19-inchers on the front axle and 20-inch units at the rear, with carbon-ceramic brakes and calipers painted in blue like the ZR1 logo.

The engine intercooler finished in blue can be seen from the outside through a heat-resistant polycarbonate window, which is placed in the center of the hood. What hood, you may ask by looking at the photo gallery and at the video embed below. Gone is the front, mid-mounted V8 with all the wiring coming out of the car. And there is no trace of the headlights, which were the first with fixed exposed headlights since the 1962 model.

This particular red Chevrolet Corvette C06 ZR1 just got into the hands of the AZCycleParts. As usual, they are going to tear it to pieces and start selling parts on eBay. Even though the front end is badly damaged, and no TLC is going to make it look as it used to before the crash, the rest of the car seems in pretty good shape.
Those wheels are surely going to end up on some other Corvette. There are some scratches on both sides of the car (doors and rear fenders), but nothing that can’t be fixed. The side mirrors seem to be intact as well, while the rear end seems to be intact.

The only glimpse of the interior shows the ZR1 seats in black leather, but there is no image of the dashboard. Most likely, the airbags were deployed in the crash. Before parts of the car will be available online, you should make a list of what you need from this car. Lists are what people do in December.
