TECHART Automobildesign GmbH - formerly stylized as 'TechArt' is a renowned German tuner focused primarily on Porsche models – and of course, they are treating the entire 992-series 911 family with utmost seriousness.
Founded back in 1987 and currently located in Leonberg, Germany, TECHART gained worldwide notoriety in the aftermarket realm in 2008 when their TechArt GT Street RS based on the 997-series Porsche 911 GT2 won the annual Tuner Grand Prix and, with it, the unofficial crown of Europe's best tuner.
The company also has a Largo, Florida-based American division and still strives to deliver the best Porsche offers – with a little extra pizzazz and panache. Now, they are refocusing their efforts on the 992-series Porsche 911 to make sure everyone has something to choose from – and they recently presented the full 'TECHART for the Porsche 911' program, which is set to offer "new standards in performance and styling."
Being Germans, the brand summarized its efforts in very few words: "Spectacular carbon fiber aero kits, breathtaking power, emotional soundscapes, and captivating handcrafted interiors." Designed to cover a broad spectrum of choices, the complete product program for the Porsche 992 generation also comes with a fresh highlight - a new engine power enhancement kit for the 911 GTS models.
The individualization program, which is accessible in the company's online 3D configurator tool and is touted as working in real time, includes a wide range of options: wind tunnel-tested aero kits, lots of carbon fiber body parts, lightweight forged aftermarket wheels with unlimited color and styling choice, reworked suspension setups, and even bespoke interior enhancements.
Of course, the program is topped by the current flagships – the signature GTstreet R conversion and new GTstreet R Flyweight version based on the Porsche 911 Turbo S. The new Flyweight moniker is actually the panache of the company's newly established performance product division which can provide "comprehensive track-day-ready enhancements, spearheaded by the Clubsport package ensuring maximum performance and safety on the racetrack" with roll bars, six-point harnesses, fire extinguishers, and more.
Additionally, TECHART extended its power enhancements to the 911 GTS family – its fresh TA 092/S2.1 kit gives the Porsche 911 GTS an additional 118 kW/160 ps/158 hp plus another 150 Nm (111 lb-ft) of torque. As such, the maximum output surges to 471 kW (632 hp/640 ps) and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft). That makes for a few 'subtle' changes in the specifications sheet. So, the sprint time to 100 kph (62 mph) drops from 3.4s to 2.9 seconds, and the 60-mph threshold is achieved in 2.7 seconds. Plus, the top speed increased from 311 kph to 320 kph (almost 200 mph) after the 911 GTS reached 124 mph (200 kph) in just 9.4 seconds. Cool, right?
