Following the Internet norm of trolling everything that's new, the new Clio RS received a fair bit of criticism, basically for not being the same as the car it replaces. Insttead of keeping its big naturally aspirated engine, RenaultSport decided to follow the industry stand
On pear at least, the tradeoff seems less than inspired. You get exactly the same power level as the old car and lose the feel of the naturally aspirated 2-liter and the pleasure of shifting gears yourself. For what you lose, you only gain 0.2 seconds in the standard o to 100 k/h acceleration time.
The reality is the Clio 4 RS is much faster than the Clio 3 RS. This test conducted by French publication Magazine Motorsport shows the newer car pulls a huge lead in a drag race. The newer car has more torque, broader power distribution, quicker gear changes, a lighter chassis and launch control.
We knew the Clio RS 200 EDC was fast, but not this fast. Time to start sell the old Clio RS and see a man about a €10,000 loan!
