American automakers make consumer goods, which are either dull and practical or aren't grounded in heritage. However, there are a few that are considered modern classics in Europe, due to their unique designs.
The relatively short list includes the Plymouth Prowler, Pontiac Aztek and these two, the Chrysler PT Cruiser and Crossfire. If nothing else, they make good cheap wedding cars. Racing? Not so much.

But a little thing like that isn't stopping the creative people of the internet from dreaming super-low versions with big wings. Robert Evans is one example of a person who's not afraid to dream big, as he made 3D models for both cars, as well as the Prowler.

The PT Cruiser is the weirdest one in race spec, boasting ultra-low suspention and flared wheel arches. These allow oversized wheels to be fitted, while a full ground effects kit tells you it means business.

AT the front, both models feature external radiators and massive chin spoilers. The grille and vented hood on the Cruiser look like scaffolding, though we can't imagine they would reduce the weight by much. Do you think it looks better in black or white?

As for the Crossfire, it too has extra aero and a wing that you can spot from a mile away. We are going to shock a few people by saying the outside is rather interesting. The curved roof that Clarkson described as a dog taking a poop is actually used by a lot of Mercedes models these days.

The Crossfire actually dates to the era where Daimler and Chrysler were a unit, so it's based on the SLK roadster from that time. So you have a 3.2-liter V6 with around 215 horsepower. Nobody has ever tried to make a cool modified version of this car, but we don't think you should try. For an explanation as to why we point you to a used car review from Car Throttle. By the way, this is THE very car they drove and made fun of on top gear.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
