Chrysler is Back in Style

When we visited Chrysler’s stand at the recent Detroit Auto Show, we were impressed with the improvements the company is making with the new model lineup. The redesigned 300 is an especially handsome beast, as it no longer looks like one of 50 Cent’s gangster-mobiles.

In order to further emphasize their new styling and improvements that have been made across the range, Chrysler has released a commercial video, titled 'Back in Style', that promotes their 200, 300 and Grand Voyager. We really like Chrysler’s approach to advertising, as it features a touch of nostalgia that should remind buyers what the company used to be about: style.

However, seeing all those beautiful coupes and cabrios of yesteryear brings up the issue that there is no new flagship two-door model in the current range. The recently-revealed 200 Convertible looks good enough to get the sales needed by the brand, but it won’t be enough to take on competitors from Europe.

To say the new 300 sedan is an important model for the future of the Chrysler Group is an understatement. The overhauled 2011 model year full-size sedan boasts new sheetmetal, a significantly improved interior and a modern 3.6-liter V6 engine with 292 hp that joins the 363 hp 5.7-liter V8 Hemi. A few weeks ago, Chrysler announced pricing information for the model, which starts at $27,995 for the entry-level V6 and tops out at $41,145 for the V8 version with AWD.

As for the 200, apart from an exterior makeover, it also gets a revised interior and better engines. However, it looks more like a Sebring with a fresh front fascia rather than a new model.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
