Last week MINI and Guerlain Chicherit were releasing a press release, proudly saying that the Frenchman will break the Guinness World Record set by Tanner Foust in 2011 for the longest car jump, at 332 feet (101.2 meters). Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned.
Chicherit’s attempt of 360 feet (109.7 meters) went awfully wrong just above the landing strip. After gaining the proper momentum and jumping high and long, the MINI he was driving started to dive hitting the ramp head-on and rolling a couple of times.

Fortunately, due to the roll cage and all the precaution measures taken before the attempt, Guerlain came out unscathed and was taken to the hospital immediately for further investigation, being conscious the whole time and keeping in touch with his fans and family.

He even posted a message on Facebook saying: "I have to stay to the hospital for the night just for safety, I'm all ok !!!" so things seem to be working out.

Originally, the attempt was supposed to take place on Sunday, March 16 but due to bad weather it was postponed until yesterday. Maybe it was an omen he should’ve paid attention to. No word on another attempt just yet.
