General Motors has proudly announced that the Chevrolet New Sail, Chevrolet Spark and Wuling Rong Guang were ranked first in their segments in the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2010 China Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study.
Produced by Shanghai GM, New Sail was awarded the first position in the premium compact class, while Chevrolet Spark, manufactured in SAIC-GM-Wuling, leads the compact segment. Rong Guang, belonging to the same company as the Spark, took the leading seat in the minivan segment.
And that's not all. GM's cars not only managed to lead some of the segments, but also managed to reach top positions in other classes. For example, Buick LaCrosse reached the last place of the podium in the upper premium midsize class, while Wuling Sunshine produced by SAIC-GM-Wuling was ranked third in the minivan category.
“We are pleased with the latest results from J.D. Power,” said Kevin Wale, President and Managing Director of the GM China Group. “They once again reaffirm the overwhelming satisfaction of China’s vehicle buyers in our locally engineered and locally developed products.”
The APEAL Study takes into consideration 82 attributes in 10 vehicle classes, as it follows: vehicle exterior; vehicle interior; storage and space; audio/entertainment/navigation; seats; heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC); driving dynamics; engine/transmission; visibility and driving safety; and fuel economy.
Of course, customers have a word to say too, as the study relied on opinions expressed by more than 14,600 new-car buyers who acquired their vehicles between October 2009 and June 2010.
