Chevrolet Readies for Its 100th Anniversary

America’s beloved car manufacturer is getting close to reach its centenary birthday celebration on November 3rd. As tradition goes, the car manufacturer starts the celebration with its annual employee car show at theGeneral Motors technical Center based in Warren. The GM show has grown to 1,000 classic cars and gathered 20,000 spectators over as years passed by.

Also worth mentioning is the fact that General Motors vice president of global design Ed Welburn, will hand-pick 20 employee-owned Chevrolet classics to be involved in the company’s activities during the Woodward Dream Cruise, which will be sponsored by Chevrolet.

The starting date of the Dream Cruise is officially set on August 20th but it also includes many prior events up to that date. Furthermore Chevrolet has launched its birthday website, the Centennial Experience, where Chevy enthusiasts can vote on their favorite model and share impressions and pictures related to the evergreen automobile brand.

“Chevrolet has sold more than 200 million cars and trucks around the world and Chevys have touched the lives of countless owners, families and fans. It is fitting that we mark our centennial by recognizing these connections and celebrating Chevrolet’s role in people’s lives,” said Chris Perry General Motors Vice President of Global Marketing and Strategy.

Chevy’s birthday was also celebrated abroad, more exactly in La Chaux-de Fonds, Switzerland which happens to be the birthplace of Louis Chevrolet the company founder. The event took place on June 19th gathering approximately 1,200 Chevys for a memorable rally, paying a tribute the American manufacturer.
