After Caterham explored the racetrack-only and the karting worlds, the British carmaker is now looking to build a more upmarket model, one that would be slotted above the Seven.
Caterham CEO told What Car? that the vehicle will come with a roof and will be gifted with more luxurious features. As for the pricing, this should sit at around GBP40,000 (EUR or USD at the current exchange rates).
Power is most likely to come from Ford, as Caterham wants to continue the partnership that’s seeing it use the Blue Oval’s four-cylinder units. However, the engine for the new car will probably be supercharged in order to deliver more power. The company is also considering a six-cylinder version, but this is not very likely.
The new Caterham will be a global product, so the company also has Asian and American customers’ demands in mind.
