Caterham has recently announced that it is preparing to enter the karting world, with the move set to arrive next year. This means that the company will add a new racing tier to its already rich portfolio, which now includes Formula One, GP2, sportscar racing, as well as racing cars for for the road. In addition to that, Caterham’s step brings its rivalry with Lotus, which also plays in the aforementioned fields and has announced its entry to the karting world late last year.
However, while Lotus will race its karts in series with tradition, Caterham wants to establish its own series, in order to offer enthusiasts a portal to the racing world, promising that this can even lead to F1 racing. Caterham said that it will develop its karts in-house, but the company is expected to collaborate with sombody in the field.

"With progression possible through the Caterham 'ladder' right through to F1, Caterham karting will appeal to those looking to make a career in motorsport but, more importantly, our aim is to target the mass-market of parents and youngsters who would like to race in a competitive and yet affordable karting series which, until now, might have been an unachievable dream. Caterham is determined to make motorsport accessible to everyone."

Our say: We want a Karterham (yes, we just made that word up)!
