Caterham and Lotus now have one more thing in common: both companies are looking to revolutionize their model range in the future. While we’ve already been flooded with Lotus' plans, it is now time to see what Caterham is cooking.
As you may recall, Caterham was acquired by Team Lotus earlier this year, and now its new owners are willing to show everybody that they’re ready to make the most out of the brand’s potential. To be more precise, we will see the birth of a new engineering business called Caterham Technology and Innovation (CTI), which will have the job to bring affordable sports cars to the market.
The company wants to use the iconic Seven, almost the only car it’s ever built, as a model, with its current business plan covering the next ten years.
“Creating a new product range that has the same reputation and appeal as the Seven is the Holy Grail of the business. To meet the challenge, we knew we needed to invest in a new operation that would have the scope, experience and vision to deliver,” said Caterham Cars’ CEO, Ansar Ali.
