Caterham today announced that its SP/300.R race and trackday car will enter the US market at the beginning of next year, with the vehicle set to be distributed by sportscar team Dyson Racing.
The team, which has recently won the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) LMP1 championship, will get its demo vehicle in early 2012, with customer deliveries scheduled to debut in Spring.
For the American market, the SP/300.R is a three-way tie-up between Caterham Cars, Lola Cars and Dyson Racing. The vehicle’s design and manufacturing is handled by Caterham with the help of Lola US engineers, which will make sure that the vehicle has the right spec for the US market, with the final assembly set to take place at Dyson Racing’s facility in Poughkeepsie, NY, north of New York City.
“Dyson Racing is pleased to partner with Caterham as the exclusive importer of the SP/300.R for the United States. Trackday driving is a rapidly-growing phenomenon in America and this car will be ideal for the many enthusiasts who enjoy this aspect of the sport,” said Chris Dyson, Team Vice President and Sporting Director.
