Remember when 300 hp was a big deal? Nowadays, all the stuff below, say, 500 ponies, will leave the comments section empty; after all, we live in an era when you can grab 9s cars straight from the factory. However, one of the velocity aspects that haven't changed involves the battle between muscle and imports. And the rendering that now sits on your screens makes for a memorable representation of this.
We're dealing with images that perfectly encapsulate the vibrant spirit of the 2000s (hey, we currently live in the new '20s!), and they manage to deliver a sense of speed even though there's no depiction of movement.

The digital artist behind the work, a young, but pixel-experienced enthusiast named Timothy Adry Emmanuel, doesn't make any effort to conceal the main ingredients that have been thrown into this mix - care to venture a guess?

If you said Fast & Furious and Hot Wheels, you were right. And while the Mk IV Supra of the original F&F movie is still here, its orange hue has migrated to the slice of America it goes up against. As for the latter, the 1970 Dodge Charger that used to give Dom the chills has been replaced by a Camaro.

And what a special Chevy this is. Many designers out there feel that the best form of a classic muscle car is the original, before the extra badassery was added. Well, this is the 1967 Camaro that started it all, even coming without the RS package that brings those mean concealed headlights.

Of course, to battle the turbo madness going on under the vented hood of the JDM toy, the retro ride packs a monster of a supercharger, hat and all, which resembles the one used by the Mopar machine featured in the motion picture.

Another piece of popular culture that has shaped this artist's personality is Need For Speed Underground; many aficionados can relate to this, especially since we're talking about one of the most engaging titles of the series.

And it's enough to check out the Supra's three-piece wheels for the gaming reference to come to mind. In response, the Camaro talks to the road via American Racing Wheels, featuring a finish that would allow the driver to check the polish of his shoes.

Oh, and while we've taken the liberty of dropping some custom nicknames for these velocity beasts in the title, you'll find the ones introduced by the artist in the description of the Instagram post below.
