The Cadillac executives announced the arrival of the first V-Series model with electric propulsion. The model that is reportedly in pole position to get the performance badge should be the Lyriq.
The Cadillac Lyriq is the brand's first electric vehicle and seems to have every right to get the V-Series badge. The carmaker promised to deliver performance models for various models in the lineup regardless of the type of propulsion.

The Lyriq was unveiled in 2021 at the Shanghai Motor Show to highlight the importance of the Chinese market. It dropped as an electric mid-size luxury crossover underpinned by General Motor's architecture, BEV3. The model rolls off the production line of the Spring Hill Manufacturing plant in Tennessee for the North American market, while it is also built in Yantai, China, for the Asian market.

From the very moment it was launched, the company's executives revealed plans to offer the Lyric as a V-Series as well, but there was no official confirmation until now. The Caddy head honchos have finally confirmed the potential arrival of a sporty EV, labeling it as "an interpretation of what a V-Series would look like in EV form."

What we should expect from the Cadillac Lyriq V-Series

The automaker might skip the concept car stage to roll out the production version as soon as possible. The model should drop later this year and go into production in the third quarter.

The V-badged Lyriq will get a redesigned front fascia with the signature faux grille and more aggressive styling to highlight its sporty DNA, as reported by GMAuthority. The carmaker might also go for the black finish instead of the chrome. The V-Series badging should show up on the body as well as inside the cabin of the car, where we should expect some exclusive trims and colors.

Right now, the most potent variant in the lineup is the Sport variant, with 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet (610 Nm) of torque, in an all-wheel drive setup. It's obvious that the powertrain can do it since the Chinese Cadillac Lyriq sports the ‘700e’ lettering, which stands for 700 Nm (516 pound-feet). Therefore, the upcoming V-badged Lyriq should go above what the Sport variant offers.

Unconfirmed information indicates around 550 horsepower and at least 650 pound-feet of torque, which would definitely put a gap between the V-Series and the Sport variant. The upcoming range-topping Lyriq should also get the all-wheel drive. All the oomph and restyling have a price. So, we should expect the Lyriq V-Series to start at well over the $80,000 mark. The most expensive version currently available starts at $74,590.

The Cadillac Lyriq V-Series would be one more step in the brand's attempt to have an entirely electric portfolio by 2030.
