CSL AutoTime has uploaded a spicy video starring three M cars, of which a single M is completely stock. All three of them clocked 12 seconds in the quarter mile, but alas, the most powerful of the bunch finished last due to a broken water pump.
CSL AutoTime presenter Tang owns the F10-generation M5, which sports a twin-turbo V8. Equipped with the very same dual-clutch transmission as the F80 M3 and F87 M2, the mid-size model weighs just under two metric tons (1,945 kilograms or 4,288 pounds). That's no biggie, though, because it packs a big punch.

The S63 in the F90 develops 553 horsepower at 6,000 revolutions per minute and 502 pound-feet (680 Nm) at 1,500 through 5,750 revolutions per minute. The only problem with this generation of the M5 in a dig race is rear wheel spin, although that also stands true for the F80 M3 and F87 M2.

Next up, the F80-generation M3 Competition owned by Long rocks a less restrictive downpipe and a muffler delete. BMW originally rated the S55 twin-turbo I6 at 444 horsepower and 406 pound-feet (550 Nm), yet Long's car develops around 493 ponies (500 ps) and 516 pound-feet (700 Nm).

Also rear-wheel drive, the previous-gen M3 Competition tips the scales at 1,760 kilograms (3,880 pounds). The final contender is Nino's M2 Competition, which is the lightest vehicle of the bunch at 1,575 kilograms (3,472 pounds). Powered by a detuned version of the S55, the straight-six coupe is running a charge pipe and boost pipe kit from Akrapovic and a Stage 2 tune for good measure.

Its output numbers are similar to Long's M3 Competition. Given these figures, many among us would bet on the F87 being the fastest car in the quarter. But as it happens, the M3 Competition was faster still. CSL AutoTime reports 12.38 seconds for the F80, 12.74 seconds for the F87, and 12.88 seconds for the M5 with the broken water pump.

Nino's M2 Competition asserts dominance in a roll, though, besting the M3 Competition owned by Long. It would be interesting to see these cars race in their bone-stock form, albeit it's obvious that the F10 is the fastest of the three. The same can be said about their current generations. Speaking of which, the F90 is on its way out in favor of the G90.

The four-door sedan will be joined by the first M5 Touring since the V10-powered E61. Most likely coming to the United States for the 2025 model year, the M5 Touring shares a twin-turbo V8 plug-in hybrid setup with the sedan-bodied G90.

Codenamed G99, the heavily anticipated M5 Touring is – without a shadow of a doubt – the heaviest M5 of them all. The high-voltage battery, electric motor, and onboard charger add plenty of weight, meaning that the M5 Touring could weigh in excess of 2,100 kilograms (4,630 pounds).
