BMW finally confirmed the prices the new M3 and M4 will have in the UK and they are not bad, at all. The 4-door Sedan will start at £56,175 on-the-road while the 2-door Coupe will have a starting price of £56,635, also OTR.
Those prices are for the cars fitted with the 6-speed manual gearboxes, of course. The ultra-fast 7-speed DCT automatic transmission asks for a £2,645 premium on both cars.
The M3 and M4 are basically the same, the only difference being the two extra doors of the former that offers a lot more practicality. Under the bonnet of the two lies a 3-liter twin-turbo 6-cylinder inline engine making 431 HP and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque sent to the rear wheels alone through a CFRP propshaft.
Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer was used in other places as well. The roof, for example, is made of the same material and so is the boot on the M4. Other lightweight materials also chipped in and the new cars are the first ones to be lighter than their predecessors in the M brand’s history.
If you want the ultimate weigh saver, you have to tick the Carbon Ceramic Brake option, the upgraded brakes offering you more stopping power for less weight and a lot more money, £6,250 to be more precise.
Xenon headlamps come as standard as well as the Professional Navigation system, DAB digital radio, Online Services, Traffic Information, dimming mirrors, automatic air conditioning, electric sunroof (that deletes the CFRP roof), Adaptive M Sport Suspension, park distance control and many others.
The standard 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint is done in 4.1 seconds with the automatic gearbox and launch control and 4.3 seconds with the manual 6-speed, while the top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h). A fully decked model (and we mean fitted with absolutely everything, even the £ 25 smoker’s package) will go up to £76,760. That’s without Individual options.
