When you enter the Nurburgring, you must accept the fact that crashing and maybe totaling your pride and joy is a possibility. As for pileups, this is another story. Multiple vehicle collisions have to be every Green Hell lover's nightmare and we’re here to show you one that... fortunately didn’t happen.
The action starts with a group of cars flying from one vibrator to another. We have to explain the camera car find itself approximately in the middle of the others. At a certain point, a BMW M3 in front has a crash. The E92 M3 was stranded on the side of the track, with all the cars behind him braking violently to avoid a pileup.
The accident happened on a section of the Ring that limits the visibility, so while the corners were not blind, the drivers had limited time to react.
Speaking of which, there was one Megane RS that approached the back of the now-slowing-down vehicles so fast that he wasn’t able to rely on the brakes alone to avoid an accident.
Its driver starts slaloming like crazy, avoiding multiple crashes by inches - had he crashed, the possibilities of this leading to a multi-vehicle collision were high, as the rest of the vehicles hadn't reached the "out of the woods" status yet.
The Renault Megane RS has a playful chassis that’s relatively easy to control at the limit. This proved to be of real help to the driver, who managed to dance his way through the other cars without a single scratch.
Before we end, we have to mention the guy in the camera car. Clearly a Megane RS aficionado, this guy has owned multiple incarnations of the sub-8 minutes hot hatch and likes to constantly feed the world footage from his Nordschleife trips.
P.S.: the stories about a BMW M and the Megane RS never get old.
