There was something about the BMW M2 that the M fans did not exactly like when it was unveiled back in October 2022. But Milltek Sport is trying to make things easier for them.
The M2 and the BMW fans did not quite click in the beginning. It must have been the tamed baby hooligan looks, the Mario Kart-like front fascia, the angular shape of the front and rear bumper, or a little bit of them all.
The thing is that it is starting to grow on us all. And Milltek Sport is giving it a helping hand. The performance exhaust systems developer worked on a premium exhaust range for the G87 M2. It comes to improve sound, performance, and – they say – design. No, don’t fret! They have not messed with that body design that you are finally starting tolike tolerate.
The BMW M2 is the last pure internal combustion M car. Nothing will be the same after it, as BMW has started the electrification rush. Milltek is taking advantage of it and unleashes the full potential of that power plant. They came up with a revised design, with a smaller rear silencer and the GT115 exhaust tips.
Designed and developed in the UK, at the company’s Advanced Manufacturing Facility, the exhaust system will be ready just in time for the first deliveries of the M2, starting this summer. What does it actually do? It brings along more drama in the soundtrack and enhances performance of the car. What that means exactly, we're not told.
Customers can order it from the Milltek Sport dealers. They can also check the box for the bespoke Active Valve Control system (AVC). This is how they will have total control of the exhaust via full CAN BUS integration. They will thus be able to open and close the exhaust valves, easily controlling the engine sound with the simple touch of a button.
With a price starting at 2,628 pounds ($3,415), the system is available with exhaust tip finish in polished stainless steel, cerakote satin black, brushed titanium, burnt/blue titanium, and carbon fiber.
The G87 BMW M2 Coupe is powered by a twin-turbocharged six-cylinder that delivers 453 horsepower (460 PS) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque, delivered straight to the rear axle. It does the 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) run in 4.1 seconds with the auto box and takes 4.3 seconds for it if specced with the manual. The needle of the speedometer goes all the way to 177 mph (285 kph) with the M Driver’s Pack or 155 mph (250 kph) without it.
The M2 with that engine under the hood will put on quite a show at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where Milltek is taking a demo vehicle.
