BMW's all-new and first all-electric vehicle, the i3, was honored by the guys from Popular Mechanics, being named one of the top 10 breakthrough products of 2013, next to other impressive creations like XBOX One and the NeverWet Liquid Repellent.
Actually, the i3 was the only car in the aforementioned category, proving once again that BMW is at the forefront of the auto industry. The reasons behind this pick are pretty obvious, as no other car manages to come close to the performances of the BMW city-car.
The thing that impressed the most out of the specs of the i3 was the Life Module, made completely out of CFRP that allows the EV to have a kerb weight of just 2,800 pounds (1,200 kg), including the batteries.
Furthermore, the fact that the manufacturing process uses renewable energy was also praised alongside the amazing price tag and the potential of CFRP to become a reference material in the industry for the future.
