Two BMW Models Make It to 2014 North American Car of the Year Short List

This year's not over yet but most cars sold at dealerships around these days are being commercialized as MY2014 vehicles. That means that they won't be drastically changed once we hit January.

That also allowed a jury made of 50 independent journalists to make up the lists for the North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year for 2014. Out of the 12 cars and 12 trucks, you'll notice that 2 of them are BMWs.

Actually, out of the bunch of German manufacturers, the Munich-based manufacturer was the only one with 2 cars in the short list, runner up being Mercedes-Benz with one car, whilst Audi missed it altogether.
The 4 Series made it to the cars category, as a sports sedan, whilst the BMW X5 (we presume it's the F15 model, even though it wasn't specified) made it in the truck/utility category.
