GMC lifts the veil on its fresh 2024 Acadia, boasting it to be the pioneer of a new era for the brand’s SUVs and crossovers. The latest model is bigger in all three dimensions, has a longer renewed interior, talks an elevated exterior styling language, and packs new tech for good measure, with several safety features now offered as standard.
According to the General Motors division’s redefined automotive creed, the refreshed 2024 Acadia will fly the brand’s flag to become a ‘leader in capability, professional-grade refinement, and technological innovation.’

It all starts with the redesigned Sport Utility Vehicle size – a full 10.6 inches (269 mm) over the previous model, with a 3.2-inch extended height (81 mm). This extra room offers enough space for seven- or eight-passenger seating (depending on the selected trim level).

Naturally, the additional volume comes with the benefit of a superior cargo-carrying capability: the space behind the third row of seats is increased nearly two-fold (80%, to be exact). At the same time, the 2024 GMC Acadia is 36% more spacious behind the second line of seats (taking the current generation as a reference).

The muscle behind the new looks comes from the 2.5-liter turbocharged engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. 328 hp and 326 lb-ft (333 PS / 442 Nm) is better than the previous generation range-topping 3.6-liter V6 powerplant.

The eight-speed gearbox replaces the older transmission (a nine-speeder) on all trim levels (and all-wheel drive will be available for order on every Acadia version). The AT4 will get an exclusive Active Torque Control AWD system for greater off-roading capability.

With the proper equipment, a 2024 Acadia will tow 5,000 lbs of trailer behind it, backed by the Super Cruise driver assistance. This last feature makes the new SUV the company’s fifth model to sport this self-driving system. The hands-free ADAS will be available on Elevation Premium, AT4, and Denali, offering trailering assist or automatic lane-change assist, among other options.

The 15-inch infotainment system screen dominates the inside of the redesigned Acadia – and one immediate trait of this high-contrast-display monitor is its vertical arrangement (see it in the gallery). The operating system offers customizable touchscreen displays or Google built-in navigation (and other apps) compatibility. The driver’s instrumentation cluster is contained in an 11-inch information center.

The high-tech 2024 Acadia packs up to nine cameras - Rear, Front, Front Top Down, Rear Top Down, Front Side, Rear Side, HD Surround Vision, Hitch, and Rear Camera View mirror. For added safety for its occupants, the new GMC SUV carries more advanced safety features as standard than its precursors.

Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator, Front Pedestrian and Bicycle Braking, IntelliBeam High Beam Assist, Rear Park Assist, Safety Alert Seat, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Buckle to Drive, and Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking are just a few (see the attached document at the bottom of the story for the complete list).

The AT4 trim level takes off-roading one step further with exclusive equipment; the ride height is one inch taller, the track is widened, and the 18-inch AT tires make the Acadia more stable, easier to handle, and more apt to drive over rugged terrain.

The hydraulically controlled rebound of the off-road-tuned suspension and the AT4-exclusive Active Torque Control all-wheel-drive system with twin-clutch rear differentials optimize traction in less-than-friendly scenarios.

Among the selectable drive modes, Terrain and Hill Descent Control are primarily intended for off-road use. And, in case the going gets abnormally rough, the AT4 brings front-fascia red tow hooks and integrated skid plates.

The Denali version of the 2024 GMC Acadia brings luxury amenities like one-touch folding second-row seats and power-folding third-row as standard. The signature Denali grille and the newly introduced 22-inch lightweight machined aluminum wheels (the biggest ever installed on an Acadia) are signs of distinction for the new 2024 GMC SUV.

For a smooth and lavish ride with a view, the optional pillar-to-pillar panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and available second-row outboard heated seats are some of the selections for the Denali.

The active noise-canceling technology doubles the standard 12-speaker Bose audio system (with an option for 16 separate speakers on Acadia Denali models). The new GMC Acadia will enter production at the Lansing Delta Township Assembly in Michigan. It should begin to roll out in early 2024 (granted that the UAW doesn’t brick manufacturing). Pricing and other details about the newly announced SUV will be disclosed when the vehicle nears production.
