Bentley EXP 10 Shooting Brake Rendered

Bentley concepts don't come around very often so when they do, the world stands up and takes notice. For example, when they came out with the EXP 9 F a couple of years ago, everybody, and we do mean everybody, said it was ugly. There's none of that going on with the EXP 10 Speed 6 shown in Geneva earlier this month.

The concept may preview a future production model that sits below the GT coupe and has sportier lines and only two seats. We definitely liked it at the Geneva Motor Show and we like it even more as a shooting brake.

No, Bentley hasn't built an actual estate-like version yet, but that didn't stop graphics artist Theophilus Chin from trying it. With the boot raised up, there is more room for luggage, which is ideal if you plan to make larger journeys.

The setup of the EXP 10 is similar to the Porsche Cayman in that the passenger compartment and luggage space are shared. A structural brace goes across the back, but there's still enough space for two designer leather travel bags.

The EXP 10 is undoubtedly the most exciting Bentley we've seen in years, the exact opposite of the SUV they plan to launch soon. It's low, sporty and features cutting edge technology – everything Walter Owen Bentley liked.

They've played with traditional Bentley design and searched for ways in which the rules can be bent instead of broken. For example, the headlights are circular if you look at them from the front, but appear egg-shaped from the side. The interior is just as special, with many cutout surfaces, door inserts that are sculpted from wood and a speedometer that rises on a hinge when you start the car.

Unfortunately, even if you have deep enough pockets to buy one of these things, Bentley can't make one right now. All their money is being invested into the SUV cash cow and putting the EXP 10 Speed 6 would take at least 3 more years.

Until that happens, you're pretty much spoiled for choice if you want a 2-seater that looks good – Porsche 911, AMG GT, Jaguar F-Type Coupe, S-Class Coupe and BMW M6.
