While Audi is planning to drop the R8 from the lineup, the sports car still remains the tuners' sweetheart. They have always found an empty canvas to work on with the two-seater. Now it is VF Engineering’s turn to do just that.
The 2023 Audi R8 model year will be the last for the R8 in the United States. The German brand has been producing it for the US market for 16 years, following its debut at the Paris Motor Show in 2006. It came as a mid-engine two-seat sports car with quattro permanent all-wheel drive and a six-speed gated manual. Furthermore, back then, it shared parts with the Lamborghini Gallardo supercar.

To prepare a proper sendoff for the mid-engined coupe and convertible model, the carmaker revealed the R8 GT RWD last year. Limited to only 150 units for the US market and 333 delivered worldwide, this last version came with a tag price of $249,000.

The R8 GT RWD is the most powerful rear-wheel drive Audi ever at 612 hp (620 PS) and 416 lb-ft (565 Nm) of torque. It can hit a top speed of 199 mph (320 kph) and boasts an acceleration from 0 to 62 mph (100 kph) in 3.4 seconds. The car hits 124 mph (200 kph) in 10.1 seconds. So you can totally understand why it sold out fast.

But there is still a chance to get your hands on an R8 beast. VF Engineering has got you covered with a bolt-on supercharger system that can be installed in any R8. The kit is compatible with the R8 V10, R8 V10 RWS, and R8 V10 Plus, all model years.

The system features the latest-generation Eaton TVS2300 four-lobe “Twin Vortices Series” roots supercharger with an air/water after-cooling system. There is no need for further hardware modification once installed in the 5.2-liter V10 engine, which makes everything fully reversible.

The kit takes the car all the way to 830 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque when running on 91 octane fuel. When it rolls off the assembly line, the model should be anywhere between 540 and 612 horsepower (547 - 620 PS), depending on the variant that enters the VF Engineering shop. But one thing is for sure. It drives out of there with 805 horsepower.

The supercharger kit starts at $31,995. For those who think that 830 horsepower is too much, there is also an 800-horsepower option available.

If you need the looks to match the power, VF Engineering can do that as well. They can paint your R8 in green for an additional $3,000. They can also come up with the VF Engineering Race Exhaust for a "more visceral effect." All good as long as it is not R8 GT RWD money.
