Remember the rumors of a 1.4 turbo engine for the Q3 small SUV sold in China? Well, today we learn that engine is very much a reality and is on sale in Great Britain already.
Available only with front-wheel drive, this 1.4 TFSI unit has to be the smallest unit offered in its class, but it still packs a decent punch: 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque. As a result, the Q3 is not sluggish, with 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) taking 9.2 seconds with a manual or 8.9 with S tronic. This makes it slightly faster than the 2.0 TDI that takes 9.9 seconds to reach 100 km/h.
Available in conjunction with SE and S line trim levels priced from £23,870 on the road, the TFSI engine will also be quite frugal, managing 47.9 mpg combined, with emissions of just 137 grams per kilometer.
