The A3 is rapidly becoming the biggest nameplate for Audi. Even though compacts are relatively novel idea for Vorsprung. This shows not only with normal cars, but also high performance models, since the S3 already has three body types and is set to gain a fourth soon.
This is the S3 Cabrio, a model based on an as-of-yet unknown A3 Cabrio. The platform will be the same as the rest of the family and the wheelbase should be about the size of the A3 Limousine's. Power is once again familiar, a 2.0 TFSI rated at 300 PS and 380 Nm of torque, all delivered to all four-wheels via either the standard manual or an Stronic6 double-clutch auto.
Judging from what other S3 models are capable of, this S3 Cabrio should be good for 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds and a top speed of near-as-makes-no-difference 250 km/h.
The S3 Cabrio will be a comparable size to the older A4 Cabrios and should cost about €45,000 in Europe. There's no info on when it's coming out, but we believe it will be within the 2014 model year, just as Audi rolls new compacts into the American market.
