The Chinese car market evolved quite differently from Europe. It started out with luxury cars for the very few affluent people who were allowed to drive and only later moved to more affordable models. Audi was perhaps the first of the German 3 to target this market, launching local production and coming up with long wheelbase version of the A4, A6 and A8.
As a result, the A8 has been more popular even than the Mercedes S-Clas in the country. Now, as Merc's new uber car is launching in the country, Audi is getting ready to introduce its flagship refresh.

The A8 facelift with its instantly recognizable Matrix LED headlights has been spotted in China.

Currently, the model range in country has some really dated and strange powertrains. For instance, the A8L 30 FSI has a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with 204 PS. This could be swapped for the 1.8 TFSI engine that Audi is now bringing to China.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
