Word that InMotion Ventures, Jaguar Land Rover’s venture capital fund, is backing the build of what is supposed to be a revolutionary electric motorcycle was confirmed this week by the fund itself.
The confirmation of big names backing the project was somehow needed, as the bike’s builders plan to sell each bike for more cash than one would usually spend on a performance car, namely £90,000 for on ($117,000).

InMotion did not say how much money it will pour into a company born not so long ago and led by a man who claims to have led Jaguar Land Rover’s skunkworks division, but does state that it plans to help Arc become the “cleanest, safest, and most fulfilling motorcycle on the road.”

“Vector isn’t just a motorbike, it’s the world’s first fully-electric café racer,” said in a statement the company’s CEO Mark Truman. “We’re delighted to get the support of InMotion for this exciting launch phase.”

The Arc Vector is an electric motorcycle, but that alone does not justify the hefty price asked for it. The technologies that come with it however just might.

Among other unique features, the bike will be sold complete with helmet and armor, the likes of which the industry has not seen before. Using a head-up display in the helmet (designed together with Hedon) and haptic technology in the armor (designed with the help of Knox), the motorcycle will be able to share itself with the rider in ways not possible before.

Performance wise, the bike’s battery pack gives it a range of 120 miles on the highway (193 km) and 170 miles in the city (274 km). Aided by the electric motors, the bike can reach 60 mph in 2.7 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 150 mph (241 kph).
