Today, everyone is almost exclusively talking about crossovers, SUVs, and trucks – including the EV variety. And we have countless examples, from the impending arrival of the edgy Tesla Cybertruck to Ford CEO Jim Farley enjoying a summer trip on the West Coast in the Ford F-150 Lightning EV pickup truck.
The truck sector is doing so great because adoption has reached unparalleled levels. At the top of the roster, the Ford F-Series is valiantly battling for light and heavy full-size duty with General Motors and Ram like there's no tomorrow for the Super Duty and F-150 models.

The mid-size king, aka Toyota's Tacoma, doesn't fear the skyrocketing competition from the newly standalone Nissan Frontier, the unibody Honda Ridgeline, or the newly introduced generations of the Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, and Ford Ranger because it held the H1 sales crown even as the entire world was preparing to welcome the N400 fourth generation's all-new prowess on the battlefield.

And what do you know, the compact pickup truck was successfully revived not by the Hyundai Santa Cruz but rather by the swift apparition of the reinvented Ford Maverick nameplate – which quickly morphed from a compact car of the 1970s into a modern, electrified, and tough unibody pickup truck. Now, numerous rumors are stating that Toyota intends to join the party – either with a Stout revival or a Corolla Cross-based derivative.

So, what could the Blue Oval company do to retain supremacy in the pickup truck field as tensions mount around the F-Series? The Lightning model will face stiff competition from the Silverado EV, Sierra EV, Ram 1500 REV, and Tesla Cybertruck, plus Toyota aiming to attack the compact establishment?

Well, according to the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, they might as well double the jeopardy with a luxury pickup truck. Not a full-size, expensive model, though – but rather a unibody compact version! Dimas Ramadhan, the virtual automotive artist behind the Digimods DESIGN channel on YouTube, has taken up the task of revealing the revived, modern Blackwood.

Albeit, unlike the failed original from 2002, it wouldn't be based around the hulking Ford F-150 SuperCrew and Lincoln Navigator. Instead, this model would use cheaper underpinnings from the Ford Maverick (possibly even the Mexico production location) and get styling akin to the latest Lincoln models – such as the second-generation Lincoln Nautilus and maybe even the upcoming, refreshed Navigator SUVs.

Do you think it could make a dent into the marketplace with the looks of a ritzy, lifestyle-oriented Lincoln Blackwood unibody pickup truck? And if so, what powertrain would best serve its interests – a more powerful version of the EcoBoost seen under the hood of the Ford Maverick or maybe even something electrified to support the posher vision, such as a PHEV assembly?
