Alfa Romeo Sets Its Eyes on China

Now that Alfa Romeo has revived at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show with the introduction of the 4C concept, the company is making the necessary steps to support its goal of launching in multiple markets, including the United States. But Alfa's newest targeted destination is China as Italian chief executives are seeing the world's fastest growing market as a major source of revenues.

Alfa Romeo will most likely debut in China in 2012 and a report by Autoblog Spanish reveals that the brand will most likely be offered as a premium alternative to German brands, which are already experiencing a growing demand in the country. This is why the Italian manufacturer will likely increase production as soon as possible, eventually to reach 165,000 units as of end 2012.

The company is reportedly working on the dealership network and the brand will entirely rely on imported models, so local production is currently out of discussion.

In the meantime, Alfa Romeo is also preparing the debut in the United States, obviously through the Fiat-Chrysler alliance that will provide the necessary resources for Alfa models to arrive there. Both the MiTo and the Giulietta are expected to reach American soil in 2012, while the latest news reveal that the 4C concept displayed in Geneva is also on the table to debut by year end.

Through the new 4C, Alfa will try to attract a new type of customers in the United States, as the 8C has never been as successful as Italians hoped.
