The Alfa Romeo Mito has put on its Police suit, joining the vehicle fleet of the Sydney Police Force.The Alfa Romeo Mito Police car is painted in white and features blue check stripes. It has been selected as it draws attention, increasing the presence of the Police in the city’s daily automotive landscape.
“The Alfa Romeo Mito being used as a police vehicle is armed with the car control technology called DNA. This technology comprises of three traction and stability control programs; Dynamic, Normal and All-weather. The Dynamic mode provides cornering feedback, more engine power, and a relaxed stability control setting. The Normal mode allows for lighter steering and an engine tune designed to provide better fuel economy. The All-Weather mode assists the drivers through all types of weather conditions," stated the press release.
The authorities will use the vehicle to integrate the road safety concept into local communities, as well for the classic purpose of preventing crime.
"When it comes to visibility, the MiTo has proven to be an exceptional car, attracting attention and interest like no other car, with its primary role as providing a talking point from which we can discuss road safety," said Chief Superintendent Bradley Shepherd.
"We see this as practical and highly cost effective way that we can play our role in a safer community for everyone. Our cars assist the Police in making contact with a wide range of people so they can discuss and offer help with road safety and crime prevention, as well as providing the practical assistance of transport. We believe that this is a very positive role that we can play in the community," the officer explained.
