Beyond all the different styles and design innovations, mobility is what defines tiny living. The ideal homes on wheels are small and light enough to allow easy transportation, in addition to promising a much lower environmental footprint compared to standard houses. This Danish tiny house design proves that even the smallest dwellings can integrate a smart layout that maximizes comfort.
The Mountainside tiny home truly looks like a miniature house. It's only 5.5 meters long (18 feet) and 2.5 meters wide (8.2 feet), standing on a galvanized, 2-axle trailer. You might think that such a compact tiny can only function like a rustic cabin with minimal amenities. Yet, the Mountainside reveals plenty of surprises.

The team at Tiny Hygge managed to integrate a welcoming living area, a well-equipped kitchen, a modern bathroom, and a loft sleeping room. There's even a dining nook that seems to appear as if by magic and easily disappears when not in use in order to keep the ground floor space uncluttered. It's the good-quality appliances and electrical system that add a touch of luxury to this rustic-looking home.

Those who are looking primarily for spaciousness and a strong indoor-outdoor connection won't find what they're looking for inside the Mountainside tiny. This miniature home is all about minimalism and high functionality. It was designed by a young European builder that entered the market just three years ago with a fresh perspective on eco-tourism and camping. Each of its tiny homes is inspired by a specific natural setting – the sea, a lake, a river, or - in this case- the mountains.

Although new to the market, Tiny Hygge already boasts a huge achievement. In 2022, it officially launched Scandinavia's first tiny house camping resort. The Tiny Seaside homes designed and built by Tiny Hygge are the first of their kind to be located right on the Baltic Sea beach, offering a balanced mix of long-term comfort, sustainability, and affordability.

The Mountainside is based on the same principles as the brand's popular Tiny Seaside. Although much smaller, this rustic cabin-style home also opens to the outdoors thanks to large windows and elegant glass doors. As soon as you step inside, the living area reveals itself as a light-filled, warm, and friendly space. Two oversized windows offer great views and ensure optimal airflow.

The large custom sofa in the living room can accommodate two more people, turning the tiny Mountainside into a surprisingly small four-people home. During the day, it’s great for socializing with loved ones and relaxing while taking in the beautiful views.

The compact kitchen is fitted with custom storage solutions, including overhead cabinets and all the basics – a sink with a faucet, a tiny stovetop, and a small fridge, neatly integrated into the built-in cabinets.

Separate dining areas are a luxury even for tiny homes with a much more generous ground floor surface. Most of the time, the countertop doubles as a breakfast bar. The Mountainside tiny offers an ingenious solution. The free space between the living area and the kitchen is cleverly used to add a practical dining nook. Unlike typical breakfast bars, this particular placement allows for generous seating.

The best part is that the table, as well as the chairs, are all foldable. When it's not dinner time, the table can be simply folded and the chairs tucked away, leaving the area perfectly uncluttered. Of course, this versatile setup can also be used as a home office.

The bathroom is also compact but surprisingly modern. In addition to a full-size shower cabin with glass doors, and an elegant vanity with a large mirror, it's fitted with underfloor heating and a powerful ventilation system. Even if it's meant to be placed in a natural environment, the Mountainside offers a high level of comfort, including this bathroom with spa-like features.

The abode’s only bedroom is located above the bathroom. Due to the size limitations, this room isn't as spacious as other tiny house bedrooms. It basically fits a two-person mattress and not much else. A small window allows natural light and fresh air inside, and there's no cross-ventilation.

Access is also not very comfortable. A home as small as the Mountainside wasn't compatible with a massive staircase with integrated storage. A simple ladder is the only connection between the ground floor area and the loft bedroom. This is based on the same practical idea of saving space wherever possible. When not in use, this basic ladder can also be neatly tucked away, like the chairs and the folding dining table.

Discrete spotlights and outdoor lamps create a cozy atmosphere, highlighting the traditional interior style. All the Tiny Hygge homes are built using as many natural materials as possible, including wood, recycled composites, and sheep's wool for insulation. The exterior cladding incorporates the ancient Japanese technique known as shou sugi ban, based on charred cedar wood, for outstanding durability.

As its name suggests, the beautiful Mountainside could be a perfect eco-friendly vacation home in the mountains, offering the perfect mix of high comfort and a low environmental footprint.
